What is the 2020 mission?
The 2020 mission is a video production project to provide a much needed online voice to UK charities and voluntary organisations at zero cost to them. Think of it as an online community news channel that keeps people connected with the great work taking place in their area, and hopefully inspire them to get involved. Uniquely, each video project will be crowd-funded by local businesses (angels, heroes, saviors, choose your favourite description ;-)
We believe that to engage and inspire people there is no medium more powerful than video. Combine great video content with the power of social media and there is no reason why any good cause will go unnoticed.
Due to obvious constraints of budget and time, on the whole, the small charity world has not evolved online as well as their private sector counterparts. The result - trying to find a local charity or community organisation to support is both frustrating and uninspiring. For every charity you do find, another 50 will go unnoticed. So thats where we step in..
With the support of the business community this situation can change very easily. We know for a fact that the UK businesses community has a massive heart, but 'thanks' to the recession it's been harder than ever to find the time and money to support social projects.
The 2020 Mission provides the platform to make massive change but with minimal investment. Just £20 per month means you can join other businesses and sponsor a video project of your choice. For that you will be credited, thanked, raved about, promoted, publicised, linked to....you get the idea :-) Please scroll down to see our very first project which is looking for backers right now.
If you are a business you can find out more here. If you're a charity or community organisation you can find out more here. You probably have some questions so go ahead and visit our FAQs page here. If you haven't already, please watch our introduction video here.
Get the badge! The 2020 Mission has selected Southampton and the Solent region to pilot the scheme. Our aim is to be rolling out to the rest of the UK in the second quarter of 2012.
The first 100 businesses to support a cause will be awarded the 2020 Mission Founder badge to be eternally recognised as the forward-thinking business heroes that got this project off the ground.
Causes! We are looking to hear from charities and voluntary community groups who feel they will benefit from extra exposure through online video
Ideally you will already have some form of existing online presence i.e. Website or facebook page etc. Please register here.
Filmakers! We are interested in talking to small independent/freelance filmakers who would enjoy the challenge of raising the profile of good causes in their area
Please drop a line to email@example.com and tell us all about what you do and a link to your latest portfolio.
